Maui County’s Electronic Recycling Program (Ecycling)
(a recycling program overseen by Habitat for Humanity Maui)
901 Lower Main St. in Wailuku across from Maui Soda & Ice.

Beginning Tuesday May 1, 2018, the Maui County Electronic Recycling Program – Ecycling – will accept all televisions, computers, printers and monitors for recycling at the yard at 901 Lower Main St. in Wailuku.

This marks a change in the materials accepted, as the international commodities markets have shifted greatly, particularly the used plastics market, which the Chinese have shut down. More than 80% of the world’s recycled plastic has been going to China for decades, but China no longer accepts plastic, so there is no place to put the material.

What this means is that materials accepted at ecycling for the past 10 years will no longer be accepted for recycling. These include: DVD and VCR players, phones, audio-visual equipment (including av screen, cameras, projectors, and transmission devices), audio equipment (including receivers, CD and record players, amplifiers, speakers, etc.), and many other items. This material now goes to the landfill.

As always, Ecycling does not accept appliances such as washer, air conditioners or microwaves. They go to Hammerhead Metals, , in the Maui Base Yard off Mokulele Highway. Hammerhead phone number is 280-8844

In short, we will accept televisions, computers, monitors and printers, and NOTHING ELSE.

The acceptance of televisions, computers, monitors and printers is required by Hawaii State law, and will not change unless the law is changed.

We Are Open:

Tuesdays 1 pm to 5 pm and

Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm

PLEASE stop dumping on us. Come when we are open!

Please DO NOT dump materials on our yard when we are not open, or on the roadside, or at the landfill. It becomes a community eyesore, and a health and safety issue.

Call the Ecycling Information Line at 280-6460 for updated information.

The Habitat ReStore is not able to accept electronics. All Ecycle materials must go to the lot at 901 Lower Main on Tuesday and Saturday during regular Ecycle hours.

You get it here; we off-load it.

Pursuant to Maui County arrangements, we no longer accept commercial open bins!

If you have more than a level pickup truck load, you must palletize and wrap your load.

You come with packing materials, you leave with them.

We have a fork lift and will-offload it for you.

We DO NOT accept:

  • Stoves
  • Air conditioners
  • Toaster Ovens
  • Refrigerators
  • Fans / Ceiling Fans
  • Water Coolers
  • Tires
  • Treadmills
  • Automotive Batteries
  • Used Motor Oil
  • Microwaves
  • DVD/VCR Players
  • Phones
  • Audio Equipment

Appliances must be taken to Hammerhead Metals in the Maui Baseyard off Mokulele.  Hammerhead Metals phone number: (808) 280-8844

Last truck in is one half hour before closing time each day – give us time clean up the yard.
