Senior Housing and Retrofit Program (S.H.A.R.P.)
Before
The County of Maui has provided a grant, to be implemented FREE by Habitat for Humanity Maui, to modify homes for qualified Seniors, who are assessed with physical limitations, impairment, disabilities and/or other health issues. The program is available to qualified home owners county-wide.
If you are:
- A resident of Maui County
- At least 60 years of age
- An owner-occupant
- Have a significant ADL/IADL and/or certified disability
- And meet the income guidelines
After
You may qualify for this short-time limited program.
Types of modifications:
- Installing grab bars
- Installing hand rails
- Installing improved lighting
- Install handheld lever handles on sinks/or doors
- Install wheelchair ramps
- Widen doorways
- Remove tubs/install roll-in showers
- Lower counter tops
- Remove carpeting/install laminate floors
Call today at 893-0334 for your application to be mailed to you. Funding ends January, 2010, or until all funds are allocated, whichever comes first. Work is done by a skilled crew, who are sensitive to the needs, cares/concern of each and every applicant.
