Thank you for joining us at Habitat for Humanity Maui's Sixth Annual Build-a-Thon Event on Saturday, October 24, 2009. We will be renovating 2 homes in the old Hawaiian Homestead in Paukukalo. Both homes are about 50 years old and we have been busy with demolishing, clearing, and framing the homes in preparation for the Build-a-Thon Day.
The day will begin as early as 6:00am with Registration at the Paukukalo Park on Kaumualii Street of Hawaiian Homes. (See Map– Head north on Kahului Beach Road, Turn Right on Waiehu Beach Road in Paukukalo and keep heading north, past Sack-N-Save, over the bridge and take the 2nd left into Hawaiian Homestead which is Kealii Drive which intersects with Kaumualii Street and you will be at the Paukukalo Park). The shuttle bus will transport people to and from the park and house sites throughout the event (until 3:30pm).
We really appreciate your participation in this event and please know that your efforts will go a long way toward getting our partner families back into their homes where they can age-in-place. August 23, 2008 - Habitat for Humanity 5th Annual Build A Thon
The Hawaii Habitat for Humanity Build-a-Thon is a public awareness and fund raising event on behalf of Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the state of Hawaii. The Build-a-thon provides an opportunity for Habitat supporters to raise money and help build homes with people in need. Although this event will occur statewide, all funds generated on Maui will support Habitats efforts to eliminate substandard housing on Maui.
You can organize a build team of ten volunteers to work on the day of the Build-a-thon. Each build site will be able to accommodate two build teams of ten volunteers each. Each builder/participant will be asked to solicit pledges from their friends and family. Pledges can be made based on "hours spent building" or as a flat sum. Prizes will be awarded to builder/participants based on total pledges solicited.
We require that each builder/participant solicit a minimum
of $100 in pledges.
In addition to a Habitat t-shirt and hat, continental breakfast, entertainment, prizes, and lunch by Outback Steakhouse are some things you can expect on that day. You will also walk away with the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to providing needed shelter to a Maui family. The following is an idea of how the day will unfold:
- 7:30 – 8:30am: Registration (Waiehu Kou IV Entrance
to Akule Place) - 7:30-8:30am: Continental Breakfast (Waihee Park)
- 8:45am: Blessing (Waihee Park)
